Funds Will Help Provide Meals to More Than 283,000 Struggling with Hunger Locally

JACKSONVILLE, Fla., April 5, 2018 – Through Publix Super Markets’ nationwide Food For All® 2017 fundraiser, Feeding Northeast Florida is one of 22 Jacksonville-based nonprofit organizations receiving monetary donations. Of the $382,000 being distributed across the Northeast Florida-region, $21,096 has been gifted to Feeding Northeast Florida. The Publix team visited the Feeding Northeast Florida Distribution Center this week to hand-deliver the check.

“Our stores are pleased to participate in the annual Food For All fundraiser,” said Dwaine Stevens, Publix media and community relations manager, Jacksonville division. “Thanks to the generosity of our customers – and the enthusiasm of our associates – the campaign helps make a difference to so many in the communities we serve.”

During the three-week November 2017 campaign, Publix Super Market shoppers and associates contributed by purchasing donation coupons for $1, $3 or $5, which were scanned during checkout and added to their purchase total. All funds collected are being distributed to programs that fight hunger and advocate for self-sufficiency on a local and regional level.

One in four children and one in six adults in Northeast Florida are food insecure, meaning they do not always know where their next meal will come from. The Food For All® donation will assist Feeding Northeast Florida in distributing high-quality food to its hunger network of 160 partners and programs.

Publix remains one of Feeding Northeast Florida’s most engaged and involved donors. Feeding Northeast Florida currently picks up food donations from 55 local Publix retail stores in six area counties. In 2017 alone, Publix donated more than four million pounds of food to Feeding Northeast Florida, which has a retail value of more than $10 million.
