JACKSONVILLE, Fla. (April 16, 2019) — Feeding Northeast Florida, a nonprofit community food bank, Lutheran Social Services and Hunger Fight, Inc., a Florida not-for-profit organization, are teaming up to bring a mobile food pantry to Florida Christian Apartments and Sundale Manor, a nonprofit senior housing center in Murray Hill, on April 17, 2019 from 1 p.m. to 3 p.m. Florida Christian Apartments and Sundale Manor house 270 residents.
“The residents of Florida Christian Apartments and Sundale Manor are incredibly grateful for the healthy stable pantry items we have provided them through our Nutrition Pack Program,” said Feeding Northeast Florida President and CEO Frank Castillo. “By teaming with Lutheran Social Services and Hunger Fight, we can expand our assistance, bringing a mobile food pantry to the residents of Florida Christian Apartments and Sundale Manor.”
Feeding Northeast Florida’s Nutrition Pack Program supplies food-insecure seniors with bundles of more than 15 meals containing items such as whole grains, canned fruits and vegetables and pantry staples. Feeding Northeast Florida’s goal is to ensure seniors are not burdened with the difficult decision of paying for medicine, housing, utilities or food.
“With the success of our Nutrition Pack Program distribution at Florida Christian Apartments and Sundale Manor and the additional meal packs Hunger Fight is providing, we believe this mobile food pantry will give the food insecure at this senior living complex more healthy options to nourish their minds and bodies,” Castillo said. “Feeding Northeast Florida is grateful Lutheran Social Services and Hunger Fight have joined us to help provide healthy food and critical resources to seniors in Murray Hill.”
