Feeding a Stronger Tomorrow
Feeding Northeast Florida helps local children and families, seniors, and veterans who struggle to put food on the table. Working with local grocery stores, manufacturers, and farms we rescue high-quality food that would normally be wasted and transform it into meals for those in need.
By connecting millions of pounds of rescued food to a network of over 160 social service agencies and programs – like City Rescue Mission, The Sulzbacher Center, and The Salvation Army – these hunger-relief partners are able to provide not only food to those in need, but services that can help these families and individuals end the cycle of poverty – including job training or placement, low-cost childcare, SNAP benefits, medical care, affordable housing, and counseling. In 2017, Feeding Northeast Florida provided more than 12.5 million meals to our network of social service agencies in eight counties throughout Northeast Florida.
Feeding Northeast Florida is Your Community Food Bank. With your help and support, we can make sure one of the basic needs shared by all of us is met every day.
The Feeding Northeast Florida Promise
Hurricane Irma Response
When tragedy strikes, Feeding Northeast Florida is committed to doing everything possible to ensure that our neighbors in need have access to critical resources. After Hurricane Irma, so many in our community suffered damage to their homes and lost their food supplies because of power outages.
Here is a snapshot of how we are working to provide food, water and supplies to children and families, senior citizens and veterans in our 8-county service area. We remain committed, long after the storm passes. That is our promise.
The food bank’s role during a hurricane or other natural disaster is not to act as a first responder, but to work cooperatively with other disaster relief organizations, such as the American Red Cross, Salvation Army and the United Way, and serve as an avenue for distributing food and other essential grocery items to them and to our partner hunger-relief organizations.
