School may be out for summer, but lunch is always in session
We know that more than 86,000 children in Duval, St. Johns, Nassau and Clay counties depend on free and reduced-price meals at school. During the summer, these kids do not have access to this critical source of nutrition. For them, summer days will be hungry days. Without the meals they receive daily at school, many kids face a summer vacation dominated by hunger and anxiety. Parents who struggle to put dinner on the table every night do not have the resources to provide a full day of meals for kids who are home from school. Many who have not needed help from a food pantry throughout the school year will now be standing in lines, hoping to get enough food to fill the gap. In order to close this gap, FNEFL has partnered with county school districts, libraries, Jacksonville Children’s Commission and other community partners to provide meals and food to thousands of these children. It is a huge task that can only be achieved with community support. We need your help to reach more kids in need. Please give online today. Every dollar means we can feed seven more kids. You will be providing children throughout northeast Florida with the nutritious food they need to thrive. Be assured that your generosity will put smiles on thousands of school-aged children’s faces!
